Ukraine is the largest country in Europe (excluding Russia). It lies in the very heart of the continent, stretching from the Carpathian Mountains in the west to the shores of the Black Sea in the south. Our country is famous for its fertile black soil, which makes Ukraine one of the world’s leading producers of grain. That is why it is often called the “breadbasket of Europe.” The landscape is varied: flat steppes, green forests, wide rivers, and high mountains. The Dnipro River, one of the longest in Europe, flows through the capital city of Kyiv. Ukraine is rich not only in nature but also in history and culture. Ancient traditions, colourful embroidery (vyshyvanka), folk songs, and delicious dishes like borshch and varenyky are part of everyday life. Visitors enjoy exploring historical cities such as Lviv with its old streets, Odesa with its seaside charm, and Kyiv, a city of golden domes. Ukrainians are known for being friendly, hardworking, and freedom–loving. Despite challenges, the country continues to grow, defend its independence, and welcome guests from all over the world. If you ever come to Ukraine, you will discover not only beautiful places but also the warm heart of its people.
