5. Read the story and then rewrite it in reported speech.

I told my brother I was bored, and that I was going for a walk. He replied that he was coming too. We told mum that we wouldn’t be late, and we set off. I said that there was some cool graffiti on that new apartment building near the park and that we would go there but my brother wasn’t listening, he was looking at a rubbish bin. He said that there was a small dog under the tree and that it couldn’t get out. We managed to rescue the dog. It was scared at first but we soon made friends. I said that we had to find the owner and I thought there was a number on its collar. I phoned the owner. She sounded very stressed. Ten minutes later, she appeared. She told us that her husband would be so happy. Two days later, we were walking past the rubbish bin when we saw a notice. It said that they were looking for the two boys who found their dog and that a present was waiting for us at the bookstore. When we got to the bookshop, there were two graphic novels for us with a note. The note said that they were very grateful and they hoped that we would enjoy those books.
