b. No one had seen Ryan going into the old house. It was late in the afternoon and it was already dark, but the boy was curious. That house on the hill looks so mysterious.’ he had told his friends a few days before. ‘I want to see what's in it. I’m sure it will be something exciting.
a. When he was finally ready to try it. Ryan told his parents that he was going to the park. He had put a torch and his mobile phone in his backpack and set off for the house on the hill. He felt so excited about his adventure that he didn’t tell anyone about it - he wanted it to be a secret!
d. At the top of the hill, it was very quiet. A bird, which was sitting in a tree outside the house, flew away as soon as it saw Ryan. The door and the windows were closed. 'How am I going to get in?' thought Ryan. Then suddenly, he saw a broken window on the top floor. It was quite near the tree.
c. Ryan didn't think twice. He climbed the tree and then jumped onto the roof. He walked to the broken window and slowly entered the attic. The smell was horrible. He couldn't see anything. It was completely dark now. He nervously took his torch out of his backpack and turned it on.
