Serena Williams was born on 26th September 1981 in Michigan, USA. She began playing tennis in 1984 when she was just a child. In 1999, she won her first big tournament and became the number one tennis player in the world the same year.
Besides tennis, Serena is also interested in fashion. In 2004 she started her own designer label called Aneres
(her name spelled backwards). In 2008 she opened a secondary school in Kenya to help children get a better education.
In 2012 she won a gold medal in singles tennis at the Olympic Games. Serena speaks English and also knows some French, Spanish and Italian.
She is married to Alexis Ohanian and they have a daughter who was born on 1 September.
