EVERY YEAR IN AUSTRALIA there are a lot of bushfires. In 2013, there (1) was a particularly bad one that (2) affected an area called the Blue Mountains, very close to Sydney. My friend Olivia lives there and her house was very close to the fire. She said that the fire (3) burned for a long time and lots of people (4) lost their houses.
Sadly, some animals (5) died too. But the fire services (6) were amazing and they (7) worked long, hard hours to try to stop the fires.
